Not only computers here...
Well up'til now it's been mostly 'puter related stuff on this page,
about time I add some real life issues too ;) The banner image above
is taken from one of my favorite training courses during summer, not
too bad view from there right?
I'm not gonna make this page too big right now, just adding a few results
and thoughts from different races to let you know that RR's still alive
and running.
August 1999
A little review of my last race now, the full marathon distance....
which means 42.195 km for those of you that doesn't know how long a
marathon is ;)
Had good feelings since a couple of weeks before the race, so although
the training hadn't been as good as I wanted it to be earlier this season
I felt like the three hour limit was about to be broken. Yet a marathon
is a marathon, and it isn't over until the final meter is run. This
was the case this year too, unfortunately there is nothing to do about
that afterwards :(
From the beginning of the race it felt great, was running smooth and
steady as a rock on 4:05 min/km, everything was pointing to a time near
2:55. At 30 km the time was 2:04 and still on schedule for 2:55, so
only those final 12 km left and they shouldn't be any problem, right?
Well managed to keep the running up until after 35 km, then it started
to get really empty in the RR's body... no fuel left at all :( The final
7 km took me 40 min, lost about 10 min there and even had to walk pretty
much... I was empty as a bottle of Jolt after a LAN party.
Those of you that wanna see the results, here
they are.... My own final time, 3:06:25 so gotta try again to break
that three hour limit ;)
July 1999
The first race of the season (yeah, I know, I've been lazy this year
;) ) was a ½ marathon race which means a distance of 21 097 meters.
Placed 11'th of 105 with the time 1:23:16, and considering it was the
first race of the season and a pretty slow track I can't be something
else than satisfied.
Next race, only the weekend after, there was a race of 15.4 km length,
ran it on 59.35 which only made me more certain that everything is going
the right way this summer :-)
